What Is One-Click Trading?
One-click trading is a MetaTrader 5 feature that allows you to open market orders with a single click, bypassing the standard order confirmation dialog. Instead of opening a new order window, setting parameters, and confirming, you simply click "Buy" or "Sell" on the on-chart trading panel and the order executes immediately at the current market price.
This feature is essential for scalpers and day traders who need to enter and exit positions in seconds. Even a 2-3 second delay from navigating confirmation dialogs can mean the difference between catching a price spike and missing it entirely.
By default, one-click trading is disabled in MetaTrader 5 because it removes the safety net of order confirmation. Once enabled, every click on the Buy or Sell button results in an immediate market order. There is no undo button. This is why understanding the feature thoroughly before enabling it is critical.
How to Enable One-Click Trading
There are two ways to enable one-click trading on MT5:
Method 1: Through Options
- Go to Tools > Options (or press Ctrl+O)
- Click the Trade tab
- Check the box next to "One Click Trading"
- Read and accept the risk disclaimer that appears
- Click OK
Method 2: Keyboard Shortcut
Press Alt+T on any active chart to toggle the one-click trading panel on the chart. If one-click trading has not been enabled yet, MT5 will display the risk disclaimer first.
Using the One-Click Panel
Once enabled, the one-click panel appears in the top-left corner of your chart. It contains three elements:
- SELL button (left, red): Click to immediately sell at the current bid price
- Volume field (center): Shows the lot size for the next trade. Click the arrows to adjust up or down, or type a specific value
- BUY button (right, blue): Click to immediately buy at the current ask price
The current bid and ask prices are displayed on the respective buttons, updating in real time. The spread (difference between bid and ask) is shown between the two prices.
Every click on BUY or SELL sends a market order immediately. There is no confirmation popup, no chance to review, and no cancel button. The trade appears in your Terminal's Trade tab within milliseconds.
Keyboard Shortcuts for Speed
Beyond the visual panel, MT5 offers keyboard shortcuts that complement one-click trading for maximum speed:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Alt+T | Toggle one-click trading panel on/off |
| F9 | Open new order dialog (standard method) |
| Ctrl+T | Show/hide Terminal panel (trade management) |
| Ctrl+M | Show/hide Market Watch |
| +/- | Zoom chart in/out |
| F5 | Switch to next chart profile |
Chart Trading Mode
MT5 offers another fast trading method through chart trading mode. Right-click on the chart and enable "One Click Trading" from the context menu, or ensure it is enabled in chart properties.
With chart trading active, you can:
- Drag stop loss and take profit lines directly on the chart to modify open positions
- Right-click on a price level to place pending orders at that specific price
- Double-click the SL/TP line on the chart to open modification dialog
- See trade entry points marked on the chart with arrows and dashed lines
This visual approach to trade management is particularly effective on larger monitors where you can see your positions and price action simultaneously.
Risk Management with One-Click Trading
The biggest risk with one-click trading is accidental execution. Here are essential safeguards:
- Set a default lot size: Before each session, set the lot size in the one-click panel to your standard risk amount. Never leave it at a large value from a previous trade.
- Add SL/TP immediately: As soon as a one-click trade executes, right-click the position in the Terminal and add your stop loss and take profit. Develop this as a reflex.
- Use templates: Create chart templates with your preferred lot sizes and save them. When you switch charts, the lot size resets to your template default.
- Position sizing rules: Know your per-trade risk before you start trading. If you risk 1% per trade on a $10,000 account, that is $100 — calculate the lot size that corresponds to your stop loss distance and set it before trading.

One-Click Trading for Scalpers
Scalping strategies that target 5-15 pip moves live and die by execution speed. One-click trading is virtually mandatory for scalping because the order confirmation dialog adds 2-5 seconds of delay that can turn a winning scalp into a missed trade or a loss.
Scalping setup recommendations:
- Use the M1 or M5 chart with the one-click panel visible at all times
- Pre-set your lot size based on your risk parameters
- Use a broker with low spreads and fast execution — the combination of tight spreads and one-click trading minimizes entry cost
- Consider using a VPS for the lowest possible latency to your broker's server
- Keep the Terminal panel open to monitor open positions and close them quickly

Closing Positions Quickly
One-click trading speeds up order entry, but you also need fast methods for closing positions:
- Double-click the position in the Terminal's Trade tab. This opens the close dialog. Click "Close" to execute immediately (if one-click is enabled, it may close without a dialog).
- Right-click the trade line on the chart and select "Close Position."
- Use the "X" button that appears next to each trade in the Trade tab when one-click trading is enabled.
- Close all positions: Right-click in the Trade tab and select "Close All" to liquidate everything at once. Use with extreme caution.
Ultra-Fast Execution with Exness
Exness offers market execution in under 25ms with spreads from 0.0 pips. Perfect for one-click scalping on MT5.

- Minimize chart indicators. Every indicator adds processing time. For scalping, use a clean chart with price action only or minimal indicators.
- Close unnecessary charts. Running 20 charts in the background consumes resources and can slow down order processing.
- Use a wired internet connection. Wi-Fi introduces variable latency. A direct ethernet connection provides more consistent execution times.
- Disable News Alerts. Pop-up alerts from the Terminal can interrupt your trading flow. Disable them in Tools > Options > Events.
- Practice on demo first. Spend at least a week using one-click trading on a demo account to build the muscle memory and avoid costly mistakes on a live account.
One-click trading is a power tool. Like any power tool, it amplifies both your efficiency and your potential for mistakes. Master it on demo before using it with real capital.
